On May 2 of this year, Jon Knutson, formerly of Tacoma, Washington, and Barbara Knutson (maiden name lost!, oops) were married in Milwaukee.

Former local Kij Johnson was married on July 4th to Christopher McKitterick.

The August LOCUS reported on the Locus Poll Results for calendar year 1997. FREEDOM AND NECESSITY by Steven Brust and Emma Bullwas voted #7 and DOGLAND by Will Shetterly #13 on Best Fantasy Novel list. EXORCISMS AND ECSTASIES by Karl Edward Wagner, from local publisher Fedogan & Bremer, was #16 on the Best Collectionlist, and THE ARBITRARY PLACEMENT OF WALLS by Martha Soukup from local publisher Dreamhaven tied for #17.

This year's LOCUS ballot also collected votes on "Best SF Novel( Before 1990)" with Clifford D. Simak's WAY STATION finishing #31 and his CITY tied for #38. LOCUS also produced "Best Novelist" lists by counting all book nominations by author: here Simak tied for #18th place as "All-Time Best Novelist--SF" and Lois McMaster Bujold appeared in 29th place. When SF and Fantasy lists were combined, Simak tied for 30th.
