Our president Peer Dudda has set up an e-mail address specifically for his duties - MNstf_Prez@comcast.net.

The Minn-StF Board has been informed that Joel and Matt have no interest in running Minicon 51. As such, we are soliciting bids to run Minicon 51. Bids should include enough budget to allow for rates to be set so as to allow for memberships to be purchased at Minicon 50, a timeline of events for the year, and qualifications of the Chair / Co-Chairs and any other currently known committee members.

# - Minn-StF Meetings start at 2pm, but there are rarely a lot of people showing up before 4pm. The business meeting will typically be between 5-6pm.

Publishing News

Laramie Sasseville (writing as Naomi Stone)'s novella 'Shining Hope,' third in the Team Guardian series, will be released October 6th by Champagne Books.

Ursula K. Le Guin is being awarded the 2014 Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.

Naomi Kritzer's "The Wall" tied for best short story in the 2014 Asimov's Readers' Awards.

Neil Gaiman's The Truth Is a Cave in the Black Mountain was runner-up (e.g. #11) on the September Locus hc bestseller list; his The Ocean at the End of the Lane was #1 tp on the Locus list, and was #3 tp on the Barnes & Noble/B. Dalton list in the same issue.

William Alexander's new hc novel, Ambassador, is now out from Simon & Schuster.

The July/August Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction includes two stories from Minnesota authors: "The Only Known Law" by William Alexander, and "Belly" by Haddayr Copley-Woods. Popular Science Monthly for August includes a short-short, "Icebergs," by Scott Lynch. "Magic Shop" by Neil Gaiman (a play) appears in Smoke and Mirrors, ed. Richard Chizmar (Cemetery Dance hc).

Neil Gaiman, upcoming: Hansel & Gretel (art by Lorenzo Mattotti, hc graphic novel from Candlewick due October); Trigger Warning (tp collection from Harper/Morrow, due February 1915); Instructions (art by Charles Vess; tp due April 2015 from Harper).

Neil Gaiman's "Click-Clack the Rattlebag" is reprinted in Mammoth Book of Best New Horror V.25 (ed SJones); his "A Lunar Labyrinth" is reprinted in Year's Best Fantasy & Horror 2014 (ed. PGuran).
