From einblatt-list@mnstf.org Sat Jul 3 14:10:09 2021 Date: Sat, 03 Jul 2021 12:10:06 -0700 From: Einblatt Subject: Einblatt Current (July 2021) Hey folks, this is the monthly Einblatt for July of 2021. I would've gotten this out earlier today, but I bought Red Dead Redemption 2 on sale and those missions go on FOREVER without letting me break. Still, It's at least before one of our significant events, so hopefully it's not too late. The first in-person Minn-STF meeting since the pandemic is finally happening on July 3rd, today! (and definitely not June.) It's hosted by Linda Lounsbury, and she has this to say about it: The address is 4525 Upton Avenue South and the times are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. FFI: https://www.minneapolisparks.org/parks__destinations/parks__lakes/beards_plaisance/ Or call 612-824-6336. There will be grills available and a limited selection of beverages and brown bag suppers. The park allows 3.2 beer in cans (no glass containers), but no other alcohol or tobacco. We will observe whatever public health measures that are current at the time. Angela Berkfield and the authors of 'Parenting 4 Social Justice' are having a virtual event on the 13th. You can register for it here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/parenting-4-social-justice-with-angela-berkfield-tickets-160615387949 On the 15th, Kristen Radtke, Zaina Arafat, and Rachel Yoder are having a virtual reading of 'A Lonely Hearts.' Looks like it'll be streamed on Magers & Quinn's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/603529413952230 The 27th sees a virtual launch party for Trilby Black's 'Finnegan's Awake,' Daniel M Bensen's 'Interchange,' and Neil Sharpson's 'When the Sparrow Falls.' You can register for it here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/virtual-launch-party-with-daniel-bensen-trilby-black-and-neil-sharpson-tickets-160632888293 July 31, 3-5PM, Dreamhaven Books, 2301 E. 38th St., Mpls. 612-823-6161 Signing - Larry Correia and Mike Kupari will be signing at DreamHaven Books, to benefit Uncle Hugo's. To quote Don Blyly, owner of Uncle Hugo's: "Larry Correia has a new novel coming in less than 2 months, Monster Hunter Bloodlines ($25.00), and Larry likes to launch new Monster Hunter novels with a signing at Uncle Hugo's. He really wanted to help Uncle Hugo's this year with a signing, but there is the problem of no building. So I worked out a deal with Greg Ketter at DreamHaven and with Larry for the signing to take place at DreamHaven so that the signing can help both stores. You can now place a mail order for the new book at http://www.unclehugo.com/prod/ah-correia-larry.php If you can make it to the signing in person, it will start at 3 pm on Saturday, July 31, at 2301 E. 38th St., about 2 miles from the old Uncle Hugo's location. Greg will be bringing in a lot of Larry's backlist books. Proceeds from the sale of the new hardcover will go to Uncle Hugo's and proceeds from everything else you buy during the signing will go to DreamHaven." Since he sent that out, we have received word that Mike Kupari, co-author with Larry Correia on several books and author of the forthcoming book The Family Business, will be joining him for the signing. Sales of The Family Business will also go to Uncle Hugo's. http://dreamhavenbooks.com/event/larry-correia-and-mike-kupari-signing-uncle-hugos-benefit/?instance_id=165 https://www.facebook.com/events/968299794022874/ Decongestant is pretty definitely happening this year: Decongestant 5 - The Mn-STF fallcon - Sept 24-26, 2021 - pre-reg $50 for 21+, $10 for 13-20 - http://mnstf.org/decongestant5 July birthdays: 1: Corwin Brust 3: Jonathan Adams, Dave Crawford 4: Don Bailey 5: Laurel Krahn 7: Krissy (if this name is incomplete, let me know!) 8: Tesla Aldrich 10: Judy Rosenberg 12: Benjamin Cox 17: Floyd Henderson 21: Irene Raun, Geri Sullivan 24: Amber Tatge, Osceola Erikson (hey that's me!) 25: Ann Totusek 27: Polly Peterson That's all I got for July.
