From einblatt-list@mnstf.org Fri Jul 1 06:15:18 2022 Date: Fri, 01 Jul 2022 04:15:15 -0700 From: Einblatt To: matthew.strait@startraders.mn Subject: Einblatt Current (July 2022) Can you believe the interns? Not only did they not remind me to update the email subject for June, they also neglected to mention that The Wicked + The Divine has a prominent trans character; making it suitable for both Pride Month AND Sci-Fi & Fantasy Writers' Day. Anyway this is the einblatt for July of 2022. There are a LOT of things dedicated to the whole month of July, so I'll list them all at the end of this email. As announced in the June einblatt, there is a Minn-STF picnic happening in Hidden Falls on July 2nd (tomorrow!): The location will be at beautiful Hidden Falls Regional Park, located about a half mile south of the Ford Bridge (46th Street) on the St. Paul side of the Mississippi River. That's the entrance you should use (there may be another southern entrance, but not sure where that one ends up). If you use the north entrance, the picnic shelter is right there at the bottom of the big hill. This is one of the oldest parks in St. Paul, established in 1887 and held as wilderness until the 1930's, when the indefatigable WPA got their hands on it and built the elegant picnic shelter (with attached restroom facilities) that we will be using. This lovely site has walking trails (to the river and through the woods to the Hidden Falls itself), paved bike trails that lead to Crosby Farm Park, and acres of free parking. This event is an official Minnstf meeting and will count towards voting eligibilty. That means that it falls under the OFFICIAL COVID POLICY for Minnstf meetings. This policy was established by Minnstf Board and is reviewed quarterly. July 16th sees Games In the Park: Emily is hosting a "low key outdoor games gathering" in a public park area. This is a "Minnstf adjacent activity," but not an official meeting. Outdoor games, and drinks that are soft! We will have frisbee, bocce, washer toss, and bubbles. Feel free to bring your own outdoor games and activities if you have them. We will be between (26th and Wirth Parkway) and (26th and Xerxes Ave) There is a parking lot at 26th and Wirth Parkway, and street parking around the area of 26th and Xerxes. There's a large hill going up to Wirth Parkway obviously built for sledding, the lower side is 26th and Xerxes. There's a very large flat area with lots of space to play on the Xerxes side. There is no rental shelter, this is a free-form event in a place that's easy to share. There are no benches, tables, or chairs in the area. Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on. Water and soda will be provided, no food. We are not typically soda pop drinkers. Soft drinks will be "what's on sale," with an attempt to offer a few options. If you have a need for a specific brand/style of soda pop, it may be best to bring your own. Richard Tatge hosts a weekly GAME PARTY at Dream Park! 6:30 to late every Friday evening (excluding conventions). Board, card, and hobby games in splendid profusion. Huge collection, but feel free to bring your own. Covid vaccination required; masks may be required depending on conditions. Munchies provided. 4002 Pillsbury Ave S., Minneapolis, MN 55409. Phone: (612) 827-3228. That's all the Minn-STF news.
