The
Minicon 37 Post-Mortem was Sunday, April 14th from
1:30 to 3:30 pm at the East Lake Library, 2727 East Lake Street,
Minneapolis.
What
follows is the data that was online during Minicon 37:
The
web team is now (mostly) at Minicon and probably won't be
updating this during the convention. Hope you find this useful,
hope to see many of you at Minicon! Wishing the rest of you
were here. Hope this webpage gives you a taste of what we're
up to.
Some
things are in different places than last Minicon: Registration,
Dealer's Room, downstairs smoking consuite are in the same
places as previous years. The Art Show is in the Duluth
Room this year (non-smoking consuite was there last year).
This year the downstairs non-smoking consuite is in Salon
E and the Bridge and the Volunteers table are
also in Salon E. The upstairs consuite is on the 21st
floor (not in the Presidential suite as it was other years).
DDB
has posted some snapshots
of the Wednesday Night Work Party at Toad Hall (Geri
Sullivan's home).
A
PDF version of the Minicon 37 program
book
is now available online (it's 2.97MB in size). Notes added 2017: The first three pages
of the PDF show the three different covers. The "2002" shown on the
bottom of the first one does not appear in the print version. It
just barely appears in the small version on page 14. I'm guessing
it's supposed to be there in print, but was too light.
The book was printed in black and white despite color on a few pages
of the PDF.
The parts of the The Minicon 37 Program Book that are not art,
articles or advertisements credited to specific person or another organization are by The Minnesota Science Fiction
Society and licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike. (This is more permissive than
the copyright statement in the book itself and overrides it.) Otherwise, content is © those people/organizations and reproduced here by permission.
Preliminary
programming schedule grid.
Subject to change. The at-con grid handouts and Bozo Bus
Tribune will have any schedule changes. It's unlikely
that we'll be updating this web version during the con (sorry!).
If
you need to contact someone about Minicon, be warned that
most department heads are onsite at the con and many of them
will not be reading email this weekend. If you're at the Hilton,
your best bet is to go to the Bridge (Salon E) if you need
to track down a specific committee member (assuming you don't
spy them elsewhere at the con). If you aren't at Minicon,
you might try calling the Hilton and asking to talk to someone
with Minicon or to the Minicon Bridge.
Registration
Hours:
Friday: 10am-10pm
Saturday: 10am-2pm
Registration will be located
in the Coat Room on the Third Floor of the Hilton. After hours,
you can register on The Bridge (this year it's located in
the room the hotel calls Salon E, which is also one of the
consuites). The At-the-Door cost for a membership is $70 for
adults, $30 for children 12 and under (babes in arms get in
free).
Dealer's
Room Hours:
Friday: 2pm-7pm
Saturday: 10am-6pm
Sunday: 11am-3pm
Setup begins at 9am Friday.
Art Show Hours:
Friday: 2pm-7pm
Saturday: 10am-6pm; Art Auction is 8pm-10pm
Sunday: 11am-2pm
The Art Show is in the Duluth Room. Artists may check in between
10am and 7pm on Friday.
Artist pickup is from 2pm-4pm Sunday.
The
hotel's Pool hours will be extended until 2:30am during
Minicon. (Yes really, there is a pool and a hottub, they're
hidden in the "Health Club" on the second floor).
The
Hilton offers valet parking ($20 per day), hotel guests
can also get a daily pass for the parking ramp with in-out
privileges ($11.75 per day, ask about this when you check
in). There are also other lots and ramps nearby.
Check-out
time at the Hilton is normally Noon, but has been
extended until 4pm on Sunday and Monday of Minicon.
Doug
Wickstrom's directions detailed in How
To Get To Minicon still pretty much apply.
