In attendance were Larry Sanderson, Laura Jean Fish, David Schroth, Bill Christ, Scott Raun, Dave Romm, Carol Kennedy, Mia McDavid, Geri Sullivan, Susan Levy Haskell, Sharon Kahn, Glenn McDavid, Seth Breidbart. Laura Jean handed out descriptions of what the chairs expected from the department heads. The meeting started around 1425. There was no report from Treasury - the Treasurer was speechless (the Treasurer insisted on pointing out that, despite his speechless condition, budgets were distributed). There was a short digression from the agenda into a discussion of the banquet menus and prices provided by the hotel. Consensus was that the Easter brunch in convention space looked like the best bet. Registration reported that they still needed to get the database, etc. from the Minicon 38 head of registration. There was another digression regarding toastmasters (history of), banquets, and opening and closing ceremonies. This segued into an entertaining discussion of possible ways of assassinating the MnStf president. Publications stated they needed to discuss things with the chairs offline. Programming - the programming department had a small organizational meeting (the Head of Programming met with herself, which is about the smallest meeting I can conceive of), and created an initial spreadsheet. They asked Publications to provide them with the Program Book deadline. They agreed that they needed to schedule a first brainstorming meeting. They then scheduled the first brainstorming meeting for Sunday, August 3, 1400, at Toad Hall. The head indicated that they planned to make an extra effort to get local pros and past programming participants involved in programming. Business was suspended for an impromptu popcorn tasting. Seth arrived, and said he'd suggested to the hotel that, for the banquet function, they could provide their Easter brunch in function space. The hotel seemed to like the idea. Seth would like the e-mail addresses changed to something like hotel39@minicon.mnstf.org (from hotel@minicon.mnstf.org) to reduce the amount of spam received. This would require changing the web page (as well as the e-mail addresses). The gnu issue is to be just as difficult in Minicon meetings as it is/was on natter. The issue of accessible rooms is being worked - the solution will need to be publicized. Carol, as GoH Liaison Liaison, stated that once again, things were going smoothly. We don't currently have an answer on whether or not the Editor GoH will be doing a chap book. Geri pointed out that our Author GoH is something of a foodie, and we should let him know that the Fan GoH's chap book will be food-related. There was a brief discussion on having a volunteer check-off box on the online registration (most of which I missed because I loaned my only pen to people for a card signing). Bill stated that the volunteer perks hadn't gone as well as he'd hoped in Minicon 38. There was some discussion of acquiring blinking light thingies as a volunteer perk. We'd like to/are planning to have a silent auction as a MnStf fund-raiser. There was no progress on the Anime front. Larry passed out copies of the budget. There was a final silly discussion about using popcorn as an ice cream topping. The next meeting will be August 17, chez Fish. Don't forget the MnStf picnic on August 2!!!
