Two versions of the minutes follow. The first is all what we had online up to 2021. Maybe it was the version published in RUNE? The second, separated from this meta-information and the first version by rows of equal signs, are the full official minutes. Notes on the full version: Matt Strait typed up these minutes from a paper copy in 2021. No OCR was involved. Original errors, if any, are lovingly retained, and marked with [sic] when I noticed them. Other content in square brackets are likewise transcription notes. Additional errors may have been introduced. Original errors may have been inadvertently corrected. The minutes were typed or perhaps printed on a daisy-wheel printer, and use a fixed-width font; this rendition mostly reproduces the formatting exactly. Exception: underscores surrounding words are used to represent real underlines in the original. ================================================================================ _July 1 Board Meeting_ Further consideration of the Dave Romm/Jeanne Mealy _Rune_ proposal. (Notes by Eds.) ================================================================================ [handwritten:] A #4 Minn-STF Board of Directors -- minutes -- meeting of 1 July 1987 at Karen Johnson's Present: Board--Don Bailey, David Cargo, Rob Ihinger ((by phone)), Karen Johnson, Geri Sullivan Officer-- Denny Lien (Recording Secretary) ************************************************************************************** The 7:30 meeting was called to 80% order around 8 pm; the remaining 20 was later Grahamly Belled, becoming 50% present for the latter half of the meeting, which thus averaged 85% Board attendance, or a B to B+ depending on the curve. ************************************************************************************** [handwritten in left margin: "$:"] Report that Pat Wrede has inspected our books and found them basically all right; her consultation fee was well under the amount we budgeted. [Struck out with slashes: "We can thus go on sending tee-shirt sales money to the Contras."] Fallcon: CONTRAPTION is maybe Nov. 6-8; final decision upcoming Saturday. Scott Raun is shucking Hucksters for it. ((10 August update: Well, actually it's called C'NTRACTION, and they decided it would be Nov. 13-15 instead, and I forget to mention that Patrick Price has confirmed as GoH, but other than that I was close to accurate.)) Spindizzy stockpile: Still overstocked and un-spunout. Mpls in '73 Worldcon party: Joyce Scrivner wants to run it and wants people to help. Will probably be at the Metropole. No one on Board had heard of other groundswellings of interest in running. After discussion, Scrivner's request OKed and $250 authorized for supplies. Clubhouse: Freeform discussion of taking the Clubhouse idea seriously vs. arranging some sort of storage area for Minn-STF Stuff vs. status quo. Things that are or that could be centrally stored/housed include Minn-STF Library, Minicon cash registers, prospective Minn-STF computer, prospective Minn-STF photocopier, prospective Minn-STF duplication equipment. Suggestion was made to build skyways between the various members' attics/garages/basements where club property is currently farmed out. No serious action was seriously expected and none was taken. RUNE: We have one RUNE bid, from the Mealy/Romm team ("The Continuation of the Official Bid for the RUNE Editorship..." passed out). Neither could be here tonight. It was noted that Board had slipped up in getting Guidelines out late to them, but that there was general sentiment that the bid was insufficient in addressing some of the points our guidelines asked to be addressed. Considerable discussion ensued over extent to which this was the case, extent to which (if the case it was a problem, extent to which (if a problem) it could be dealt with quickly, and logistics of who and how (if it were to be dealt with quickly) would be dealing, and from which end of the deck. After many t's were dotted and i's were crossed, a ragged consensus consented to set up a work meeting with DR/JM somewhere in 7-12 July range((Sullivan volunteered to coordinate setting up--to make a long story terse, it was at the Minn-STF meeting of 11 July, and It All Worked Out OK, Really.)) TotU: LOCUS favorably reviewed TALES OF THE UNANTICIPATED #2--review was read out. Aubade (almost): It was 9:55 pm. We all adjourned and drove home, except for the one who adjourned and hung up. Next meeting 13 August 1987:Rob/Peg Ihinger household. Minutes typed 10 August 1987-- [signed:] Denny Lien Denny Lien ================================================================================
