This is a scan and OCR of minutes found in a binder, done in 2018. I have corrected OCR errors, but left original errors intact, if any. ======================================================================================== MN-STF Board of Directors - - Minutes - - Meeting of May 12, 1990 at the Karen Johnson home. Present: Board: Bailey, Johnson, Krueger, Ihinger, Schafer Officers: Tuttle,Lien, Bratton, Raun Others: David Cummer, D Dyer-Bennett, David Cargo, John Ladwig **************************************************************************************** Meeting called to order at 4:00 PM. Agenda: Request for use of bulk mailing permit. Camel Lecture Series Hugathon Next meeting Camel: No matter if the size drops, a computer will still be needed, whether for Minicon or mailing list. We know what renting is like (breakage & repairs). With no MNSTF camel , there is a restriction on who can do what(availability of volunteer, with equipment and compatability of software.) The overlap of registration and mailing list. Art show and minutes are not addressed in the enclosed proposal. Treasure is addressed, Minicon Treasury. For minutes a used system could be used. The MNSTF treasurer reports that there is about $5000 for a capitol expenditure. If a decision is made: the advice is: look at prices dropping over time and either buy more capability for the same money of buy what is needed for less. Registration is the most pressing need because of volunteer status. Treasury is not a pressing need until the '91 Minicon. Reliability is a concern. The camel must hold up for our use. A consideration will be the start up expenses: disks, paper, ribbon, etc. For badges four computers are needed presently. Publication use computers steady after PRII. Elise says yes on Sec 2.1 of proposal for now with no more than a 10% overage. Absolute cost is not the driving factor. Decision was reached to tell Minicon to go ahead and purchase a computer for registration if and when needed. When it comes to the actual purchase, get someone who knows computers to help. guideline: One year warranty, transportability(safely),. reliability, compatability. There was a discussion of mailing list and registrationuse of computer. Tell Exec that if and when there is a need to go shopping, stay within 2.1 guidelines. Then come in with a proposal and specifics( Model #'s, etc.) to get final approval. Lecture Series: There is a proposal for a one or two people series. Mailing permit: Wants to use our permit for mailing a "Generacon" flyer. They are willing to pay the postage. We need to find out the post office rules. Tell them yes unless there is a problem with the post office. Also they will need to pay for returns. Hugathon: David Cummer wants to make the Hugathon an official MNSTF function. This is not a request for money. The Hugathon was started in 1988. The money received goes to MAP (non-profit). The Board has decided we have een doing this for 2 years.
