This is _Rune_ 37 1/2, the clubzine of the Minnesota Science Fiction Society, Inc. (Minn-stf). This issue is being edited, typed, mimeod, folded, and addressed by Don Blyly, so that Bev Swanson will not have to rush so much to get out _Rune_ 38. Address labels typed by Blue Petal. ***** Meeting Dates: Saturday, July 13, 1974, at 1:00 p.m., at the home of the Bucklins, 4701 Park Ave. S., Mpls. Tuesday, July 23, 1974, at 7:00 p.m., at the Hobbitat, 3755 Pillbury Ave. S., Mpls. The annual Minn-stf picnic will be Saturday, July 27 (not the 20th, as had been suggested ealier). Watch for more details and a map in _Rune_ 38. Saturday, August 3, at 1:00 p.m., at 343 E. 19th St., Apt. 5B (Blyly & Young), Apt. 8B (Haskell), and perhaps other fannish apartments in the same building. ***** B.Y.O.B.Con 4 July 19-21, 1974 Kansas City, Missouri This con will be at the Muehlebach Hotel (the worldcon hotel for the K.C. in '76 bid), Baltimore & Wyandotte at 12th St., Kansas City, Mo. 64105. Singles start at $16, doubles start at $24. There is a pool and a 12,000 sq. ft. sundeck. There will be an art show with lots of stuff by Tim Kirk and Richard Corben. Huckster tables are $10. I don't know what films they plan to show. The party suite will feature _Coors_ _Bheer_ (don't take the name of the con seriously). There will be at least a couple of car loads of Minneapolis fans going. Registrations is $3.00 in advance or $5.00 at the door. Make checks payable to KaCSFFS, and send them to B.Y.O.B.Con 4, 1915 Mews Dr., Kansas City, Mo. 64131. When I helped convince the K.C. group that they ought to make this an open con at a hotel, rather than an invitational get-together at certain fans' homes, I promised that the con would be publicized in _Rune_ 38 when it came out the first week in June. _Rune_ 38 still has not come out, and although I had no control over the situation, I would like to publicly apologize to the K.C. fans for making a promise that I have been unable to keep. I would also like to encourage fans to attend the K.C. con if at all possible, not only to have a good time, but also to keep the K.C. fans from loosing their shirts putting on the con. ***** The Discon Bus Trip We must have at least 34 people on the bus to be able to rent it. (We can take up to 39.) To date 11 people have confirmed that they want to go on the bus. In addition to Don Blyly and Mark Hansen, these people are: Ann & Bob Passovoy, Bob Tucker, Susan Guthman, Ken Hoyme, Delores Lennon, Joan Verba, Patrice Russell (all of whom have paid theire $20 deposit), and Karl Bunday (who has paid the full $60. If we can't get enough people to fill the bus, we want to give these people as much time as possible to find alternate ways of getting to Discon. If we do not get enough people to send in money by August 1, we will cancel the bus trip. If we can- cel the trip, we will immediately refund all the money to anybody who has sent money in. So, if you have not yet sent in money, mail a check (payable to Don Blyly) for at least the $20 deposit so that it will arrive before August 1 (address: 343 E. 19th St., Apt. 5B, Minneapolis, Mn. 55404). If you have already sent in your deposit, wait until about August 5. If you have not received a refund by Aug. 5, that will indicate that enough people signed up, and you should immediately send in the rest of the $60.
