Publishing News

Lyda Morehouse’s Fallen Host made the preliminary Nebula ballot.

Mary Monica Pulver's Murder at the War won First Place in the Adult Fiction category at the 2001-2002 Midwest Book Awards.

Steven Brust's The Paths of the Dead was #10 hardcover on April LOCUS bestseller list; his The Book of Athyra was #5 trade pb on the May LOCUS list.

Neil Gaiman's American Gods was #9 pb on April LOCUS bestseller list (its eighth month on the top ten list); it was also #3 pb on the BookSense.com list reported in April LOCUS and #12 pb on same list for May.

Neil Gaiman's Coraline is a 2003 BookSense Book of the Year finalist; it's also on the final ballot in two categories for the 2002 Bram Stoker Awards: Long Fiction and Work for Young Readers. And it was named a 2003 Young Adult Library Service Association "Best Book for Young Adults." Publishers Weekly listed it as #72 best-selling young adult book (not just sf/f) of the year.

Naomi Kritzer's Fires Of The Faithful was a runner-up for the Crawford Award for best first fantasy novel.

Gordon R. Dickson's Dorsai Spirit (tp omnibus) now out from Tor/Orb.

Eleanor Arnason's "Knapsack Poems" was on the 2002 Tiptree Award "short list" and her "The Potter of Bones" the "long list."

Laurel Winter won a McKnight Artist's Fellowship for Children's Literature for her not-yet-published (non-sf) novel Do Not Attempt This At Home.

John Sladek's last unpublished work, novella Wholly Smokes, is now available as an eBook from Ansible Editions or a POD volume from Cosmos/Wildside.
