World Fantasy Award nominees include Neil Gaiman (The Graveyard Book for Novel and Odd and the Frost Giants for Novella), former local Kij Johnson ("26 Monkeys, Also the Abyss" for Short Story) and Elise Matthesen in the Special Award-Nonprofessional category ("for setting out to inspire and for serving as inspiration for works of poetry, fantasy, and SF over the last decade through her jewelry-making and her "artist's challenges.")

Neil Gaiman won the Best Novel Hugo award for The Graveyard Book.
