The Rivendell Group is bidding to hold the Mythopoeic Society's annual Mythcon in the Twin Cities in the summer of 2011, with a theme of "Humor in Fantasy". Mythcon is a small fantasy-oriented convention with particular emphasis on J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and the like. Anyone interested in being on the con committee please contact David Emerson at 612-724-4491.

2009 Nebula Awards final ballot includes two works by former locals: "Arkfall" by Carolyn Ives Gilman (novella) and "Spar" by Kij Johnson (short story); also a nominee for the Bradbury (media) award is the film version of Coraline, based on Neil Gaiman's novel.
