Minn-StF Meetings: July 6, cancelled in favor of Convergence; July 20, Minn-StF Picnic, Minnehaha Falls

Announcements:

# - Minn-StF Meetings start at 2pm, but there are rarely a lot of people showing up before 4pm. The business meeting will typically be between 5-6pm. This is a change from last month’s change of the standard start time.

The Minn-StF Picnic will be July 20th, starting at 12N.

Captain Vorpatril's Alliance by Lois McMaster Bujold is a 2013 Hugo nominee for Best Novel; "Mantis Wives" by ex-local Kij Johnson is a Best Short Story nominee. Bujold's Falling Free is a finalist for the 2013 Prometheus (Libertarian) Hall of Fame Award.

Kij Johnson will be the editor of the Nebula Awards Showcase 2014. Her "Schrodinger’s Cathouse" has been reprinted in the first issue of new sf magazine Galaxy's Edge, and alternate versions of her story "Spar" appear in online magazine Clarkesworld #79, both as text and as a podcast.

Neal Gaiman has a new poem, "House," on the Tor.com website; his "The Case of Death and Honey" is reprinted in Weird Detectives: Recent Investigations (ed. Paula Guran; Prime tp, 2013).
