From einblatt-list@mnstf.org Mon Aug 1 23:49:21 2022 Date: Mon, 01 Aug 2022 21:45:08 -0700 From: Einblatt Subject: Einblatt Current (August 2022) It's the August Einblatt for 2022! I've turned 24, I finally got enough money to reserve a Steam Deck, and it's still summer for some gods-forsaken reason. Here are some events to potentially justify this month's existence: The first Minicon 56 Organizational Meeting is happening on August 8th! From 7-9 PM, it's hosted by Matt Strait & Isaac Schneider and will be at the DoubleTree in St Louis Park, Courtyard 1-3. Everyone is welcome. Decongestant 5 is planned for October 7-9, hosted at the Hilton hotel in Bloomington. This is much more laid-back than Minicon and is intended for August 27th sees the third Minn-STF Summer Picnic for 2022! The location is the Wabun Picnic Area at Minnehaha Falls Park, Shelter F. This event, however, needs a host. If you'd like to host the picnic, contact president@mnstf.org Note that while this picnic is at Minnehaha Falls Park it is NOT at the location used from approximately 2005-2018. We are back at the Wabun Picnic Area from years ago, between the Veterans Home and Lock and Dam Number One. Technically it is at the very end of 46th Avenue South, but it feels more like you're heading down the driveway of the Veterans's Home. Check your map before you leave. One of the great things about this site is that it has its own parking lot, which evades the usual parking nighmare at Minnehaha Falls. This event is an official Minnstf meeting and will count towards voting eligibilty. That means that it falls under the OFFICIAL COVID POLICY for Minnstf meetings. This policy was established by Minnstf Board and is reviewed quarterly. Theoretically there should be a Minn-STF meeting on August 6th and the 26th but the calendar still says TBA. I'm gonna assume the organizational meeting & picnic are in place of them. Dana Hayward published his first novel, "Entropy," and was kind enough to provide free copies to Einblatt readers! Unfortunately with the way Einblatt works I can't attach it here, so I'll post the PDF in Minn-STF's Discord. If you'd like to support him or get the book physically, you can do so at Amazon or Google Play https://www.amazon.com/Entropy-Dana-Hayward-ebook/dp/B09V6J9G83 https://play.google.com/store/books/details/Dana_Hayward_Entropy?id=sGVuEAAAQBAJ&hl=en_US&gl=US Thorin N. Tatge's second short story, "Intercalary Time," appears in Mythaxis 30, Summer 2022. Joan Marie Verba's new fantasy novel, Twelve: A Retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses, is available as of August 2, 2022. For more information: http://twelvefairytale.com Richard Tatge hosts a weekly GAME PARTY at Dream Park! 6:30 to late every Friday evening (excluding conventions). Board, card, and hobby games in splendid profusion. Huge collection, but feel free to bring your own. Covid vaccination required; masks may be required depending on conditions. Munchies provided. 4002 Pillsbury Ave S., Minneapolis, MN 55409. Phone: (612) 827-3228. That's all the Minn-STF news. Paws On Grand with Drew Brockington, PUPPY BUS!
