Accessibility

As we have in the past, Minicon will offer additional accessible parking spaces and will set up accessible seating in panel programming.

A few notes on the hotel. Unfortunately, we have to work with the architecture that we've got (not just with this hotel; others have similar problems).

  • The DoubleTree Park Place has a single bank of elevators, which is near the hotel's front desk and far from much of the function space. This means two get from the Summer/Spring/Winter/Autumn rooms on the first floor to the Terrace/Park/Orchard rooms directly above them, one must walk nearly the entire length of the hotel twice. The hotel has declined our suggestion to install a second bank of elevators at this end.
  • The first floor is split-level with the hotel front desk and Courtyard rooms above the Lower Atrium and Summer/Spring/Winter/Autumn rooms. There is a lift that goes with one of the stairways between these. It is rather slow, but does work. It is also possible to go out the front door of the hotel and around to the lower side on the sidewalk.
  • The "Upper Atrium" is reachable only by stairs. Accordingly, we have scheduled nothing there. It is designated "overflow gaming" and we have two other gaming rooms.
