Minicons have programming (which will be further covered in our future Progress Reports) but are primarily oriented towards socializing.... The Minicons are moderate-sized regional science fiction conventions. For most of the Minicons, a bit over half of those attending have been from the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. The other attendees are pretty much from out of state, most driving for 14 hours or less in a car --say St. Louis as a practical limit to the south, and Indiana to the east. There is also a small handfull of Minicon attendees that may fly in or take a longer drive to get here. Minicon 3 (April 70) had 120+ attendees; Minicon 4 (June 71) had 150+; Minicon 5 (0ctober 71--a metro-area con) had 65+; Minicon 6 (April 72) had 150+; we are expecting 175+ confans to attend Minicon 7 this coming April. If you are a member of any group that might be interested in holding a special function at MINICON VII, please let us know--the hotel has provisions for 1/2 day suite rentals and other accomidations for your group, including banquets. If wish to have a display or have handouts distributed, please write the Miniconcommittee c/o Louie Spooner--3247 Lyndale Ave. South; Minneapolis, Minnesota 55408.
