This is a scan and OCR of minutes done in 2021. I have corrected OCR errors, but left original errors intact, if any. Everything inside square brackets, (e.g "[sic]") is added by me. Underlining, if any, is represented by surrounding words with underscores. The original minutes were typed, so have a fixed width font, and this copy duplicates the formatting as far as possible. Exception: page breaks are not noted and page headers and/or page numbering is not copied into this version. ================================================================================ [handwritten:] C3 #5 [handwritten:] Lien Minn-STF Board of Directors Meeting -- 3 Nov 74 am Blyly/Wixon's apt. Board members present: Voting members: Blue Petal (President), Carol Bucklin. Margie Lessinger, Jim Young. Non-voting members: Don Blyly, Chuck Holst, Denny Lien. Board member absent: Ken Fletcher (voting). Guests present: Jan Appelbaum, Mark Hansen. Fred Haskell, Jerry Stearns, Bev Swanson. Blue Petal called meeting to order at 4:55, upon conclusion of SMoM meeting. Blyly requested Minn-STF financial aid for his ailing quasi-official Minn-STF mimeograph; repairs should probably be under $25. Petal moved and Lessinger seconded that "We authorize Don Blyly to spend up to $25 and reimburse him therefore to fix his mimeograph machine." Passed 4-0. Haskell brought up problems of rising expenses and growing mailing list of _Rune_. The last issue cost circa $70 to 75, or .10 to .15 per copy. The current mailing list is around 650, including about 260 in Mpls-St.Paul. Could we charge $1 a year to everyone? Or to non-Minnesota people only? Or to non Minicon attendees only? (Attendees now get for one year free.) Currently we make _Rune_ available in various ways; Haskell suggests five for future: (1) Trades, on an all-for-all basis. (2) LOCs and other contributions--issue of appearance only. (3) Attendance at or supporting membership for a Minicon, giving one year's subscription. (4) $1 per year. (5) One free sample upon request. After lengthy discussion, Young moved and Petal seconded that "The Board approves the new _Rune_ subscription plan as just explained by Fred Haskell." Passed 4-0. Lessinger moved and Petal seconded that "The Board grants $50 to Fred Haskell toward production of the next issue of _Rune_." Passed 4-0. Young moved and Petal seconded that "The Board grants $50 to Fred Haskell to put into our postage account." Passed 4-0. Hansen discussed addressograph systems. Our current system cannot be kept in Zip Code order (as the Postal Service requires) without considerable extra hand work, and it must he retyped every four mailings. An addressograph system may be worth the investment. Hansen distributed literature on various systems and discussed them. Lessinger volunteered to do address updates on punch cards if we use such a system, but not to do the original card punching to set it up initially. Petal moved and Young seconded that "We appoint a committee of Don Blyly, Fred Haskell, and Mark Hansen to check on and spend up to $200 to seek out and purchase an addressing system." Discussion. Vote called. Vote is 2-2, and motion thus fails. Young moves same, substituting $250 for $200, and Petal seconds.. [sic] Vote called; motion passes 4-0. Bucklin announced a ditto paper run: contact her if interested. Lessinger notes at future meeting we should update list of people who can sign checks for us. Bucklin calls to adjourn, Petal seconds; vote called; passes 3-0 with one proxy abstention. ////Minutes typed up 24 Nov 74 -- Dennis Lien, Minn-STF Secretary [signed:] Denny Lien ================================================================================
