January 22, 1996 Karen Cooper recording Attending: Mark Richards, Kay Drache, Julie Johnson, Polly Peterson, Don Bailey, David S. Cargo, Karen Cooper, Dean Gahlon, Judy Reynolds-Miller, David Miller. Jerry Stearns is a no show, as is Martin Schafer. Agenda (in no particular order) Library of Congress; mailing list; storage locker; high schools; Don, Judy and David; insurance; Pavek; TOTU; books for East Europe; bills and such. Insuring the Emsh Exhibit - Kay finds a price of $3,090. We are highly dismayed. Don, Mark have ideas. Much discussion of insurance minutia. Library of Congress - Will register our publications. At least a $20 payment. Polly says Eric will do. Don Bailey Twin Cities Regional Science Fair - a non-profit four-county metro area science competition for science students. Has 400 entrants in grades 6-12. They have sudden extra expenses, and ask for our help. We think their cause is just and worthy and so write them a check for $500. Also, they need volunteer judges--see February Einblatt for all the details. VPDP - Thomas has resigned and Barry has taken over. Some of the Board hope one day to make his acquaintance, as does David Cargo. Mailing list discussion ensues, same as it ever does. David S. Cargo suggests using USPS updater services. A good idea, worth pursuing. Postage expenses are astronomical. Do a "return postage guaranteed" once a year, we think? Storage locker - Mark will build carts for stuff. We approve $250. Minicon 30 - Will be closed out by February 29, 1996. We're finally paying artists from Days of Yore. Treasury - Make job easier for Julie. Regular bills need paying. RUNE bill has been paid. People: get return address stamps if you think it will help. Just how many bank accounts do we have? Get VISA to main account. Much discussion pursuant to the details thereof. Taxes Who will do them? Pool Party - Mark will host. We budget $250. Voting meeting - Both February meetings. Election at first meeting in March. Next Meeting February 26, 1996, at Karen's house. Eric will join us next time to discuss TOTU. Rex wants to be on agenda for next time, asking for grant to the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting.
