May 22, 1996 Lynn Litterer recording Attending: Martin Schafer, Dean Gahlon, Kay Drache, Lynn Litterer, Geri Sullivan, Eileen Lufkin, Polly Peterson at Martin's. 1. Follow-up on treasury questions -- Dean talked to Julie Johnson, she paid Kinko's bills. Some concerns have been raised about Mark Richards paying the Minicon bills. Apparently the artists have not been paid yet, and neither have some of the vendors. The hot line phone bill is still somewhat screwy, but is being paid. 2. Geri and Jeff are hosting a Mpls in '73 party at Wiscon this weekend. Wiscon is providing the room. We will give them the standard $73. Geri mailed 'zines to England, will ask Julie for $26.60 of the $40 authorized. Approved. 3. Geri is doing an informal survey of MNStf members (active ones who go to meetings) about Minicon. The idea is to ask these people as opposed to people who go to Minicon meetings or read the Minicon e-mail list. 4. Rumored bids for next year: Don Bailey -- a minimal Minicon with much planning for the following year. Fred Levy Haskell -- small Minicon with focus on doing a few things well. These are both still in the discussion stages. Clarification of timing: people should discuss bids during the summer and put together draft proposals by August. Bids should be presented to the Board by September so we can make a decision by October at the latest. Much discussion of direction at the latest. People interested in bidding should go to several concomm meetings to become familiar with what the current internal issues of the concomm are this year. 5. Follow-up on locked doors of the Grand Ballroom at Minicon. Dean talked to Rex [Bryant] -- got names of people involved. David Eggen was in charge of `front of hall,' -- traces to him. Apparently a miscommunication about which doors should be locked when. 6. MNStf will be 30 years old this fall. What do we want to do to celebrate this? Definitely have a big party. Probably have a publication or several. Put trivia or short articles in the Minicon newsletter. 7. Budget goal for Minicon -- initially budget $20,000 profit. This can be adjusted later as we get more info from Mark Richards on the final figures from Minicon 31. We discussed what the money goes for (quite a bit goes toward Minicon expenses -- postage, Kinko's, storage locker, etc.) This will be published once we finish the taxes and get a current treasury report.
