These minutes were first found, called "excerpted", but very nearly complete, in Son of the WSFA Journal #138, 3rd April 1974 issue. Then in 2021, Matt found the complete version and OCR'd it. Noticed errors are marked with "[sic]". Underlines are indicated by surrounding words with underscores. ================================================================================ THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MINN-STF MINUTES Meeting of Feb. 23, 1974, at the Hobbitat. Meeting called to "order" at 3:45. Cryptic note follows:"someone threw coins; Mark lunged; Chuck remonstrated." Importance of events recorded in cryptic note is proven by fact that two weeks later I don't have the slightest memory of it. Someone is covering up. Chuck Holst called for old business, then new business. The second one worked. New business consisted of nominations for the Board of Directors: Denny Lien : Nominated by Dick Tatge ; declined. Dick=Tatge : Nominated by Carol Stodolka ; Seconded by Craig Van Grasstek Frank Stodolka : " " Martin Schafer ; " " Craig van Grasstek Ruth Odren : " " Dick Tatge ; " " Joan Verba Gerry Wassenaar : " " Denny Lien ; " " Craig van Grasstek Don Blyly : " " Dick Tatge ; declined " Ken Fletcher : " " Dick Tatge ; Seconded by Don Blyly Blue Petal : " " Ken Fletcher ; " " Martin Schafer Caryl Bucklin : " " Denny Lien ; " " Dick Tatge Al Kuhfeld : " " Martin Schafer ; " " Don Blyly Bev Swanson : " " Chuck Holst ; " " Ken Fletcher Mike Wood : " " Gerry Wassenaar; " " Dick Tatge Jim Young : " " Gerry Wassenaar; " " Dick Tatge Margie Lessinger: " " Caryl Bucklin ; " " Gerry Wassenaar Chuck Holst : " " Greg Lien ; " " Bev Swanson Chairbeing Mark Hansen then closed nominations. Nominations will be open once again at March 9th meeting; election to take place at meeting of March 23rd. Total number of candidates thus far: 13. Total number of people declining nomination thus far: 2. Record for most people nominated thus far held by Dick Tatge, with 4; record for most nominations seconded a tie between Tatge and Craig van Grasstek, each with 3. Keep those cards and letters coming in, folks. Jim Young moved to adjourn and someone seconded. Chuck Holst objected, leading to a parlimentary [sic] squabble (for one thing, we had not yet had a Treasurer's Report). While the squabble squabbed, Caryl Bucklin slipped in a Treasurer's Report _sotto_ _Voice_: we still have a treasury. Denny Lien refused to ask everyone to sign the sign-in sheets, for a change. Frank Stodolka reminded us of the curently[sic]-running local s.f. play, JUMPDAY. Don Blyly announced that he was selling INSIDER, with an article on local s.f. activities. Denny Lien announced that his SCIENCE FICTION WRITERS OF THE TWIN CITIES bibliography had been listed on the freebie page of the current LIBRARY JOURNAL and that he was getting sundry across-the-country requests therefrom. By this time, the squabble had subsided to a rising surge of apathy and a vote on adjournment was taken. Aside from one abstention, everyone voted Yea. Meeting adjourned at 3:55. Submitted and seconded _sans_ squabs, [signed:] Denny Lien Secretary [handwritten:] 7 March 74 ================================================================================
