Room parties run Friday and Saturday nights at Minicon (or at other hours if the party hosts like). People run parties to promote other conventions, have a gathering for a particular interest, show off their cool theme, or for no particular reason at all. Our parties this year are:

Saturday, April 3

8:30 p.m.-2:00 a.m. Bandana Square Cons Party

Hosted by three cons to be held at Best Western, Bandana Square, St. Paul this year: Con-Sarnit Three, a Western convention, celebrating Western icon Gary Cooper (1901-1961), Saturday, June 5; Diversicon 18, a multicultural speculative fiction convention, July 30-August 1, with Guest of Honor William F. Wu and Special Guest Rob Chilson; and Arcana 40, a horror fiction-and-film convention, October 15-17, with Guest of Honor Caitlin R. Kiernan.

Sunday, April 4

7:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. A Party for Readers and Viewers
Sponsored by Second Foundation, a Twin Cities speculative fiction book discussion group that has met regularly since 1983, some of whose members are also film buffs. The party will probably combine conversation with a couple of viewers' choice films.
