Meeting Host Info

This page contains information about hosting a MnStf meeting. It is maintained by the Mnstf board. To report errors, or make suggestions for improvement, write to board@mnstf.org.

Advertising

A blurb will be created for posting on social media and the natter list. Please send the following information to the current president. If you're wondering who this is, check out the officers list. If you've hosted a meeting before, and you're fine with using the previous blurb, you don't need to send exactly the same information again.

• What are the host(s) name(s)?
• What is the address of the event?
• Are they any special directions for getting to the location? (poorly marked road, use side door, no parking on side streets before 6pm…)
• Do you have pets? If so, what kind?
• Is it okay to bring animals?
• Is the location child-proof or child-friendly?
• Do you want a note saying "No guns"? (It's best to leave this off if you don't care)
• If people want more information, what is the name and contact information (usually a phone number) for the best person to answer questions?
• Would you like any features, activities or food advertised in the blurb?

Signs for the Meeting:

Please display a "Minn-Stf Here" sign on your front door if possible. That one says "Come on in". You could also use this one that doesn't, to which you can add directions like "ring the doorbell". And here's a color version. Host(s) may also want to make signs for:

• Coats/bags
• Washroom
• Soda Pop
• Beer
• Wifi password
• Space that is off limits

Reimbursement

There is a stipend intended to cover the cost of snacks and beverages. Reimbursement is handled by the MnStf treasurer. See the Meeting Stipend Policy for the amount you will get.

Excluded People

A few people have been banned from attending Minn-stf functions. If you wish to host a meeting in your house, you must be willing to exclude these people from your house for the duration of the meeting. (It has been many years since this was relevant for anyone, but it's always possible it could come up.)

If there are any other people that you do not feel comfortable coming to your house, we do have procedures for that. See bylaw II.8.
